Questions can be raised about the social wisdom underlying the tough-on-crime position collectively taken by David Miller, Dalton McGuinty, and Stephen Harper last week at their 23 November meeting in Toronto, especially in a city like Toronto whose police force has consistently been charged with racial profiling, and worse, police brutality.  The instance of Jeffrey Reodica, the 17-year-old Filipino shot in the back three times by a Toronto police officer on May 21, 2004, is only one of the more brutal examples of recent times.
