- Carlos Hurtado – representative of the National Association of Community Media, Free and Alternative (ANMCLA) in Venezuela and President of LARA TV

- Luis Britto Garcia – Award-winning Venezuelan narrator, essayist,  cartoonist, underwater explorer and author

Afternoon panel to feature Community and Altnerative Media panel (to be announced) speaking about context in Canada.

  April 13th marks the people’s victory over the US-backed coup d’état against President Hugo Chavez that took place in 2002. Venezuelan corporate media played a significant role in organizing and supporting this coup.

This is a forum on the role of media in democracy and politics, learning from the community and alternative media experiences in Venezuela to build People’s Power and challenging the corrupt
corporate media.
